85/365 - a million sparkles

The wind was bad at the beach when we went yesterday, constant, cool, wearing, spitting sand into our faces and sending the white-capped waves sideways up the beach in a boil. But the sun was bright, and the motion of the light in the water shimmered and shone, creating a sparkle I had to catch...

Fifty-Two - Splash

I was trying to get water drops falling into a glass this morning, but I gave up and went with the splash and a little processing. This project is going to need some work... Anybody know how to do this? I'll figure it out sometime, but seriously... I've got a long way to go!

Forty-Three - Surrounding

I got really sidetracked from my "only one quick shot" this morning. REALLY sidetracked. While photojournalism is my first love, I've not had a lot of people to shoot recently, so I've been experimenting with composition, creating something to photograph for my daily photo ops. This morning, I dropped a tulip into a wine glass of water, set it in the sunlight, and bam. Click, click, clickety. I got 119 shots, and most of them were really good SOOC. I only touched them up for artistic preference.

This shot is the one I kept coming back to for my 365 photo of the day - I love the swirls in the water surrounding the tulip, the hints of light, the deep colors, the bright air trapped between petal and water. The very close second choice was this one.

Thirty-Five - Softly to the Shore

The sun was setting on the beach when I shot this, throwing rose-gold everywhere. I had to bring it home with me. Every time I find colors this vibrant in the light, I wonder how much more incredible His glory will be - described in the Bible in colors and words that can no more convey the image of it than any camera or imagination can truly capture light. But here's a small attempt on my part to remember.

Thirty-One - Spray Bright Evening Into Dark

Pete took me to the river tonight at sunset. Ten rushed minutes of cold shooting to catch one lovely moment with warm eternity. I love what I do.
