102/365 - triplet

4.16.2009

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.

~Maya Angelou, Gather Together in My Name

my first love for a long time was music; it probably still is - it's the only thing the the world sometimes that touches the place where I cry. my husband helped me buy this piano when he was just my friend, and now i walk past it every day and wish i had a moment to sit and play. or the emotional energy. because I cry now when i play.

for today, anyway, it made for a good triple self-portrait.

strange that I can still hear my piano teacher clapping her hands and saying, "tri-puh-let, tri-puh-let..."

I know the feeling. My piano is old and battered. Got it free. But I don't have much time to sit and play . . . and when I do, I can't because the boys are napping and they'd wake up.

I love how expressive this photo is!

My five year old daughter calls triplets "twiplets." I don't know why that makes me giggle so much but it does :)
